The Grand Galleon Hotel is a 4-star boutique Hotel designed to exist in a ‘sea’ of characterless contemporaries located in Cebu. It takes inspiration from the historic trade ships of the same name that spearheaded the country’s endeavors into global market. Given Cebu’s continuing legacy in socio-economic growth, the team arrived at an architecture that embodies ‘movement’ – a motion in form that echoes the gravitas of a ship sailing in the open waters of the pacific. This hopes to provides a character of sensible luxury to the hotel that touches on contemporary design principles. Earth tones and wooden elements outline the building with an organic forms gives guest a warm, and inviting experience.
The site of the project is at the corner of Salinas Street and La Guardia Street in Barangy Lahug. It sits among low-rise commercial buildings and residential subdivision. The area is popular among local youth for its many restaurants and bars. The 17-storeys, 9,375 sqm hotel itself is set to rise on a 988 sqm lot. It will have 126 rooms, 2 Grand Ballrooms, a Lounge bar and an All-day dining, as well as an Infinity Pool with a pool bar and a spa at the roof top offering a majestic view of Metro Cebu’s skyline.
